Genealogy After Hours: Third Thursday of every January, April, July, and October from 5-8pm
The Genealogy Collection of the Bay County Public Library contains over 3900 books and over 2000 rolls of microfilm. None of these materials circulate. The largest percentage of our collection deals with the Southeastern United States and also we have a good collection of materials on other states. We have family histories, research guides, and general genealogical references. We also have a nice collection of Genealogy periodicals.
We sponsor a Genealogy After Hours event four times a year. This takes place Thursday evening at 5:00 to 8:00 pm after the Library closes at 5:00 allowing patrons to use books and computers with no time limit and better access to a staff person for assistance in “how to” genealogy. The event takes place on the third Thursday of every January, April, July and October. We have been hosting these events since 2007 and it is well attended. Please call for reservations (850-522-2130) as space is limited.
The BCPL Local History Room, the Bay County Genealogical Society and the Historical Society of Bay County jointly sponsor a First Families of Bay County certification program.
Access to the Genealogy collection is available during normal Library hours.
